Education First

I heavily encourage missions trip but, unfortunately, not many people have the opportunity to go on missions trips, due to expense and time. So what if you were able to bring the children to your house for a few weeks to minister to them and show the love of God to them.

You CAN have that opportunity. Education First of Titusville is a program that brings exchange students to your house during the summer, winter and year long. These children are taught English as well as the culture. The host families are encouraged to take the children to church as this is a cultural thing in the USA.

You might ask, what responsibilities do the host families have. The child must have their own bed and you would need to feed them regular meals. They attend school from 8am to 5pm so you would also need to have transportation to get them there and back.  During the weekends they are yours.

This might seem like a lot, but it really isn't. My husband and I have hosted 8 children so far and will be hosting 2 more this winter and 2 this summer. We try to show them what a Christian family is like and we take them to all our church services. We have also given them all Bibles (in their language) to take back with them as going-away gifts. A few of the children have been REALLY interested.

There can be a language barrier but you can get through that with patience and love.

EF has programs throughout the United States.  Even if you do not live in the Brevard area, you can still look into hosting children. Please take the time to look it up. You might not have hundreds or a thousands of dollars to travel overseas to give the gospel, but you probably do have a warm bed and yummy meal that you can share with this precious souls. - Rejoicing in the Present.

If you are interested, please feel free to leave a comment with your information. Thanks!
