Lessons From Moms in the Bible - The Cannanite Woman

In Matthew 15:22-28 we read about another mama.  Let's look at the story...

"And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour."
This mother was SERIOUS about her daughter's healing. We see how she cried out to Jesus about her daughter. "Have mercy on me!" She cries.

She shows Him that she can't do it and she shows Him that she is willing to take anything, even the crumbs of His mercy.

What faith and trust! We as moms need to have the heart that she did.

First, we all must earnestly cry out to God about the spiritual needs of our children.

Then, I must be willing to never give up on them. There are very dark nights when it seems like morning will never come.  I must NEVER give up!  I must fight on my hands and knees.  I must come boldly, yet humbly, to the throne room of God and beg Him for mercy!

Finally, be humble and willing for whatever God has for your child. Maybe the best thing for your child would be for God to take him home to heaven. Maybe the dark path is what will lead her to the light.

Are we willing to take what we think are the crumbs of life?

Trust God and never stop fighting for your child. - Rejoicing in the Present
