1.Cut the material to fit
2. Turn the material inside out (nice sides facing each other)
3. Sew shut 3 of the 4 sides
4. Turn the material back the right way and stuff the pillow inside
 5. Hand sew the last side closed
6. Make a ruffle (HOW TO MAKE A RUFFLE)
7. Hot glue it on to make a flower
8. Lastly, glue a button on

Ye Shall Be Witnesses

This is the end of our missions month at our church and our children were encourage to memorize the following verse. This morning during church two of our boys quoted this verse loud and clear. It was so sweet.

Acts 1:8"...you shall be witnesses unto Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Jesus was telling them to reach their neighborhood, then their town, then their neighboring town, and then the world. So many times during a conference we feel led to go to a foreign field. This is NOT bad; in fact many are called to go during these conferences. However, we need to ask ourselves, have we tried to reach our neighbors? the ones who live next door? the ones who sit in the cubicle over? the ones who play with our kids in the park?

I am all about foreign missions and I know when I watch clips and videos I get the urge to jump on a plane and go help them all. However, I must remind myself that missions is everywhere and before I look across the ocean I must first look across the street to my Jerusalem.  Once I've shared there, then I must share with Judea and Samaria and finally with the uttermost part of the earth.

Education First

I heavily encourage missions trip but, unfortunately, not many people have the opportunity to go on missions trips, due to expense and time. So what if you were able to bring the children to your house for a few weeks to minister to them and show the love of God to them.

You CAN have that opportunity. Education First of Titusville is a program that brings exchange students to your house during the summer, winter and year long. These children are taught English as well as the culture. The host families are encouraged to take the children to church as this is a cultural thing in the USA.

You might ask, what responsibilities do the host families have. The child must have their own bed and you would need to feed them regular meals. They attend school from 8am to 5pm so you would also need to have transportation to get them there and back.  During the weekends they are yours.

This might seem like a lot, but it really isn't. My husband and I have hosted 8 children so far and will be hosting 2 more this winter and 2 this summer. We try to show them what a Christian family is like and we take them to all our church services. We have also given them all Bibles (in their language) to take back with them as going-away gifts. A few of the children have been REALLY interested.

There can be a language barrier but you can get through that with patience and love.

EF has programs throughout the United States.  Even if you do not live in the Brevard area, you can still look into hosting children. Please take the time to look it up. You might not have hundreds or a thousands of dollars to travel overseas to give the gospel, but you probably do have a warm bed and yummy meal that you can share with this precious souls. - Rejoicing in the Present.

Party Idea: Fall Party

Recently my husband's Nana and Aunt celebrated big birthdays. So the family asked me to put on a party for both of them.  I decided, since it was during the fall, to do a fall-style party.  I got trays at Publix to cut down on time, but all the decorations I put together myself.  Below are some pictures and ideas of some ways to dress up a FALL party.

FALL CANDLES  For the fall candles I just used popcorn kernels in a Ball jar with a candle in the middle. The popcorn kernels give it a real "autumny" look. This turned out very cute
I also got candy apples. I could have made them, but for time's sake I bought them in the produce section and put them in these adorable fall baggies. They were a real hit with the kids and adults

Fall flower arrangments: I showed the how-to of these FFA's last week. You can click on the link and it will show you how to do them.

I also bought a flower arrangment and made a little gift table. It's hard to see but I also had candy dishes out with apple-flavored candy corn. Those were a big hit as well. I hope this gave you some neat ideas.

If you have anymore ideas, feel free to leave a message below. Thanks.   - Rejoicing in the present.

Keeping Your Windows Open

As a preacher's wife, I sometimes get convicted by own husband's sermons. This is a little humbling. Well, yesterday, my hubby preached an powerful sermon.

In Daniel 6, we learn about Daniel's strong prayer life. Daniel 6:10:   "and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime."

Daniel had a PLACE, a TIME and a PURPOSE.   He would kneel in front of the window, three times a day and give thanks. We can learn from him.

Do we have a place?

Matthew 6:6 says "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
There are many "closets":  your bedroom, a couch in the living room, anywhere where you can completely tune out the world and all distractions, and quietly and humbly come before the throne of God.  Do you have a specific place where you can focus ONLY on God?  Most people can say "I can pray whenever wherever" and this is true, but having that specific time will help us get in a GOOD habit of spending time with GOD.

Do you have a time?

This is also key. We need to have a set time everyday. This may be morning, afternoon or night;  it's not the "whenever" that's important, it's the when. Get a time, and build that habit.

Do you have a purpose?

What is your purpose? Is God your purpose? Is glorifying Him your purpose? Is thanking Him for what you have your purpose?
Remember communication is KEY to any relationship and of course this is so true of our relationship with God. We need that daily talk and walk with him.
On an end note, it's not the habit of prayer that's important, it's the spirit of prayer. So let's keep our windows open so that we can let the breath of God in, while building good habits of daily prayer.

Gift of Health

Psalms 103:1-5

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. - Let us never forget who we get our health from. - rejoicing in my present health.

    Operation Christmas Child

This month at our church we are having Missions Month and one of the things that we do is fill shoeboxes full of toys, candy and toiletry items for little children all over the world. This program is called Operation Christmas Child.  It is an amazing program that takes necessary items as well as the gospel into thousands of homes and hundreds of countries. Our church sent some boxes to Madagascar a few years back so this video really touched our hearts. Take the time to watch it.

    DIY Wooden Bracelets

I got this lovely idea from Craft Affection (picture taken from Craft Affection). This is a very easy cute project, if you take your time. I tried it and failed the first time BUT it was because I didn't let them sit long enough. SO make sure you follow the directions.

    What you need:

    1:Popsicle Sticks
    2. Boiling Water
    3. Cups
    4. Paint and Paint Brush

    What do you do

    1. First boil the water and popsicle sticks.
    2. Let them sit in the water for about an hour or more
    3. SLOWLY bend the sticks into a circle (if there are a few splinters you can take them off later)
    4. Place them into your cups and let them dry COMPLETELY (I would give it 2-3 days)
5 Once they are completely dry you can take them out and paint them

    Feeding Your Soul

In Luke 40, we read a story about Jairus and his daughter who was dead, until Jesus raised her from the dead. What a beautiful example of how God takes us, dead in sin, and raises us. We were reading this story in Teen Sunday School yesterday and something jumped out to me. Read the following story and then I will tell you, what I saw...

Luke 8:40-41, 50-55 "While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy  And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dyingdaughter is dead; trouble not the Master.50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

I don't know why "he commanded to give her meat".  It could be that he didn't want people to worship her or treat her as immortal because she had been raised. It could have been for a different reason. What I do know is that she was a person and that she needed strength and to get strength she needed to eat. What hit me was this, when we are saved, meaning raised from death unto life spiritually, we become spiritual beings and we need strength.

To get strength we must feed on the Word of God. That is the only way we grow. If Jauris' daughter never ate after she was raised, she would have gotten sick and died. If we never feed on the Word of God, we too will be come spiritually weak.

Feed your soul today through the Word of God, the Bible - rejoicing in the present.

    Gianna Jessen: Abortion Survivor

Around this time of year, there are a lot of "walks" and "talks" all over the nation to emphasize pro-life. My husband and I were apart of the pro-life chain this last Sunday. We held up signs and waved to the passerbys. While doing that, we got into a discussion of how people get themselves into these predicaments. I believe that the majority of the world knows that abortion is murder. They just try to convince themselves otherwise to feel better. They just choose to end the life of someone else instead of their own. What I mean by that is that many people think that their life ends when they have children-- now I have to care for someone else.

I will always remember a statement my mom told me once. We were talking about her life and growing up and she said that she felt like her life started when she got married and had children. I think that is so beautiful. If only we could see what a difference we get to make in the next generation.

I wanted to share this video with you. This is Gianna Jessen a young woman whose mother attempted to abort her but God saved her life, twice. PLEASE take the time to watch this. It's a beautiful story.

PS. What most people don't realize is that abortion hurts the woman in a deep way. If you are reading this and have already had an abortion, go to your nearest pro-life center. There is HOPE and forgiveness in the Lord and many of these centers have special counseling and retreats for you.-rejoicing in the present

    What you need:

    - Envelopes
    - Glitter
    - Glue
    -Scrapbooking Paper

    What to do...

    1.  Cut your scrapbooking paper to fit in your envelopes.

    2. Write your message in glue

3.Cover the glue in your glitter

    3. Shake the glitter off and let dry.
It might take about 24 hours to dry completely

Here are a few I did...
