Movie Review: Return of the Daughters

A good friend of mine, gave me this movie to watch, since I was going to read the book that the these same daughters wrote on purity. This is what I came away with...

Positives to this idea...

This movie is very thought provoking and I believe that it really brings a biblical perspective on what God intended for ladies; to be wives and mothers. I love how it pointed out, that these daughters were not sitting at home knitting, waiting for their husbands, but they were actively using their God-given talents to help their family and community.
The daughter is educated by the parents and educated to make her family the most successful that they can be. I do believe that this idea is the best situation in every home.

Looking at our culture...

The overwhelming majority in the USofA HOWEVER would not be able or would not care to put so much effort into this idea. In most families, both parents work outside the home and by the time they get home they are exhausted from the stress of their job. Thus, children are raised in the public school system and left to be trained by their teachers and daycare providers. When they get home, their homework, dinner and TV shows eat up the evening. This happens over and over again until we blink our eyes and they are heading to college (because we desire for them a career that will "help them have a good life.") Now I am not condemning any hard working parents, I am just asking them to think where this is going.

Think...Why are we put on this earth? When we leave, what will we leave? When we die, what will we have done to make the world a better place for our children, the next generation? The only unchanging, the only promising thing we can leave, that will make the world a better place, that will provide for our needs, that will carry us through any and all things is our heavenly Father, God. So is our job? our school system? our lifestyle? the Internet? the TV? or our family? leaving them God?

Negatives to this idea...

If both parents are not 100% committed to this idea, it will not work. Both parents must be on board training and preparing their children for their future life. . Mom must be teaching daughter how to cook, clean, do laundry, care for children, teach children, care for finances, show her how to shop and clip coupons, and then incorporate her talents into helping the family. She can teach her how to decorate, cut hair, and so much more. Dad must teach her how a husband should treat her, give her wisdom, have long relationship conversations (so dad can know what she is looking for in a man), and more. They both must teach her the Bible. Both parents must also be committed to educating their daughter through experiences and books and mostly TIME.
NOW, if a mom can not stay at home to teach her these things, it really is not possible. If dad does not have the time to sit down and talk for long periods of time with her and spend time showing her how a relationship should look (through his relationship with his wife) then this WILL NOT be successful.

Watch this whole movie with a open mind and open heart. Ask the Lord to search your family and see if you are doing the best you can for them. You may be exactly where you should be, but then again you may not be. Pray and search. - Rejoicing in the present.

Below is a clip from the movie...
